Student employment programs at SFSU

Student Assistant Programs are on-campus work programs open to any student who is enrolled in the regular university or through Extended Learning.

  • August 27, 2007 is the first day that students can begin work for the academic year. Students should not begin to work until they have completed the appropriate forms and submitted it to their employer.
  • May 23, 2008 is the last day that students may work for the academic year, unless they qualify for summer employment.

Absence Policies and Procedures

Policies:

  • 1 shift: If you plan to request time off for 1 shift, you must request this time off 72 hours prior to the date of the shift requested.
  • 2 shifts or more: If you plan to request time off for more then 1 shift, you must request this time off one week prior to the date of the 1st shift of your request.

Procedures:

  • If you would like to request time off, please email your fellow Lab Consultants and cc: bsslabs@sfsu.edu with your request for someone to cover your shift. We understand that there are emergencies and that people get sick so please provide us with as much notice as possible.

Student Vouchers

Student Vouchers are to be completed according to your work schedule. These forms must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be paid. Submit Student Vouchers to your Department payroll technician by the 16th of each month.

SFSU Student Pay Day Schedule: Please remember that for SFSU employees, checks are paid only once a month. Checks will be available for pick up in HSS 382 after 2:00pm on "Pay Day".

Student employment at BSS Computing

The BSS Computing Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Our department provides computing support for faculty, staff, and labs in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. As such, our department hires new Lab Consultants every year in the Fall semester. We look for people with alertness and quick wit to help monitor the labs. Lab Consultant Employment Application: Submit a resume with your application via email at bsslabs@sfsu.edu or drop it off in HSS 382 (with attention to (Mei Chin) ). You may check with our department in the beginning of each semester if there are any positions available.
